For example, I might decide to add some extra design elements on large monitors since there’s a lot more space to work with, and then I might decide to hide those elements on mobile devices so that we don’t overcrowd the small screen.

Another aspect to consider is that the layout of the design and content will be completely different on a phone compared to a laptop or large monitor. The mobile layout will be more “vertical” to fit the narrow screen without over-shrinking the design elements and content.
